Well, Argue & I played a couple rounds of Wilderness yesterday, and I gotta say, it's a hella fun map. There's just such a variety of things that you can do, and each faction's strengths & weaknesses really do shine on this map.
One interesting part about this map are the derelict ships hidden around the map. If you get those resources, you're in a good way - especially if you can upgrade your extractors exactly in unison to pulling up the ships. The boost is definitely an edge up.
Another great thing about the map is that troop landings become pretty clutch. Through most of the games we played, we were able to setup landings in the back of our opponents bases and basically run 2 wars at the same time - one in the contested areas, and another brought right to the enemy's front lines. For one of the games, I played as UEF, and was able to drop T2 eng's, T1 eng's and T2 tanks / rockets in the rear of the bottom left guy's base. I had a squad of 5 T2 gunships to support them as well. We jumped in there, setup shop, setup shields, T2 PD, T2 AD, and artillery ASAP. Built a land factory, and pushed on it to upgrade to T3 so I didn't have to worry about exposing my guys during their flight from my main base over to the second camp.
I gotta say, in another game we played though, our opponents did a good job of getting T1 bots in to T1 air transports. My Aeon mobile AA couldn't hit the damned things, and they were wrecking through my units. However, even still, it forced my opponent to occupy himself with an invading army while I was able to get on a resource tear and setup artillery across his shore.
Great map. Lots of options on it, including air, ground, water, T1 combat, landings, etc.
