    ARGH!!!

Damned Theta Passage. My first true "loss" in about a month (I took another loss, but that was because SupCom went haywire on me and I ended up taking a loss...)..

    Anyways.

My opponent (TestPlay) was pretty smart - he was UEF and built those light assault bots. They were able to pick off my eng's, which I just didn't have covered well enough. I took a gamble that he wouldn't play that way, and it didn't pay off. I tried to put units up to the front as quickly as possible, but meanwhile he was putting units on both my perimeters. My commander was in the front with my main forces, which I then had to break up to try to get at his encroaching forces. They snuck around, and he brought his commander to the front, where we started dueling commanders. I just couldn't build units fast enough to take up his perimeter forces, and my commander started going after his. At first I had enough units to put him on tilt, but the damage he'd done to my base was pretty severe. I ended up just charging my commander hoping I could get him before he got me. Unfortunately I lost any / all scouts in the area, so my commander was stuck trying to find his while getting hit by T2 tanks.

Ugly game. I guess TestPlay is pretty good (ranked 481) but I'm just not that good on that map. Especially now that people are using those LAB's now (they didn't used to!!!)

Oh well. My ranking continues to blow. I guess I should spend more time listening to you guys ;)

    Re: ARGH!!!

Geez! Sounds like a brutal fight.  I think more times then not, the first person to attack (and cause damage) wins the match.  If you can get those little LAB's out there and disrupt his engineers, he can't build resources nearly as fast early on.  Your opponent will also have to stop his unit production to build engineers to replace the one he lost.  In the meantime you're spitting out units and your engineers are still able to build.

I think the key is to be the first one to draw blood.  Those LAB's are perfect for that.

    Re: ARGH!!!

I hate this map. I hate this map. I hate this map.

Played another one yesterday that absolutely worked me. I just can't seem to get things moving fast enough. I went with LAB's and scouts early on, but they just weren't able to mess with my opponent enough. Then, he brought his commander forward and did some pretty brutal damage to both my armies and my resources - and stayed just out of my own commanders' grasp. Grrr....

Oh well, live & learn.Eventually I'll be able to earn a "W" on Theta
